INVEGA® (paliperidone) is an extended-release injection indicated for the treatment of schizophrenia in adults.
INVEGA® (paliperidone) is an extended-release injection indicated for the treatment of schizophrenia, and schizoaffective disorder, this injection helps reduce symptoms like paranoia or disorganized thinking.
Administration Information
After your healthcare professional has determined that you can tolerate the medication, you’ll receive 2 starting doses of INVEGA SUSTENNA®, each dose 1 week apart, into the muscle of your upper arm. Then it can be given monthly.
*Once a patient has been adequately treated with INVEGA SUSTENNA® their healthcare provider can shift them to every three months or every 6 months depending on the version.
After 4 months of adequate treatment with INVEGA SUSTENNA, patients may shift to INVEGA HAFYERA or INVEGA TRINZA.
*Before shifting to INVEGA HAFYERA, patients must be adequately treated with either INVEGA SUSTENNA for at least 4 months (with the last 2 doses being 156 mg or 234 mg), or INVEGA TRINZA for at least one 30 month injection cycle (at doses of 546 mg or 819mg).
*Before shifting to INVEGA TRINZA, patients must be adequately treated with INVEGA SUSTENNA for at least 4 months (with the last 2 doses being the same).

Possible Side Effects
The most common side effects of INVEGA SUSTENNA® seen in this study were:
- Injection site reactions
- Insomnia
- Weight gain
- Feeling restlessness or needing to be constantly moving
- Anxiety
Other common side effects seen in previous studies include: sleepiness or drowsiness, dizziness, and abnormal muscle movements including tremor (shaking), shuffling, uncontrolled involuntary movements, or abnormal movements of your eyes.
