Sublocade

Sublocade
SUBLOCADE® (buprenorphine extended-release) is a long-acting, once-monthly injectable medication containing buprenorphine, used to treat adults with moderate-to-severe opioid use disorder. It is administered by a healthcare professional as part of a comprehensive treatment plan that includes counseling and psychosocial support.
Treatment can help reduce cravings and block the rewarding effects of other opioids, which can help break the cycle of addiction.
Administration Information
Sublocade is a once-monthly injection given by a healthcare professional. It slowly releases buprenorphine all month long with no real daily ups and downs.
Your treatment provider will give you a test dose of oral buprenorphine first to see if you are able to tolerate it. Your second shot can be given as early as 1 week and up to 1 month after the first. Getting your second shot as early as 1 week after your first may help SUBLOCADE build up in your body faster. After the first two injections, you will receive SUBLOCADE monthly.
Potential Side Effects
The most common side effects of SUBLOCADE include: constipation, headache, nausea, injection site itching, vomiting, increase in liver enzymes, tiredness, or injection site pain.
These are not all the possible side effects. Talk to your healthcare provider for medical advice about side effects. Full prescribing information can be found on the manufacturer's website.
